Dr. Sappington believes that the health of your eyes and body is just as important as having clear vision. She recommends maintaining annual eye exams to monitor both, even if you feel you vision is clear. This helps her make sure there are not changes needed to your prescription, but also to monitor for any new conditions that may arise.
To ensure good eye health and vision, we are very proud to offer the following services:

Comprehensive Eye Exams
An eye exam has two parts: the first is the evaluation of your ocular health and the second is testing your vision for a prescription. At Espy Vision, Dr. Sappington believes every patient deserves this and will assess you for common eye disorders. During your eye exam, the eye doctor will test how your eyes function together, in addition to finding your optimal prescription.
The eye health exam may be the most important part of your exam. Serious health issues like diabetes and hypertension, as well as ocular diseases like glaucoma or macular degeneration are often first detected in the eye exam.

Contact Lenses
In the contact lens exam, the eye doctor will perform the comprehensive eye exam, as well as assess the cornea for contact lenses. Dr. Sappington fits patients in spherical, toric and multifocal soft contact lenses.
Our eye clinic currently does not fit RGP lenses, Ortho-K or Keratoconus lenses at this location. Dr. Sappington works with other local optometrists and can easily refer any patient who could benefit from these lenses to an alternate location. The eye health exam may be the most important part of your exam. Emergency Care
Red eye? Something get into your eye? Spots or flashes in your vision? Dr. Sappington can examine for a wide range of emergency eye exams from infections, ocular trauma, foreign body removal and sudden or painful changes in vision. There are many reasons an eye could be red, but if the eye is not examined with a slit lamp, the true cause may be overlooked or given the incorrect treatment.
If you are experiencing any sudden change in your vision, new floaters or flashing lights or pain associated with a red eye, these are considered an ocular emergency and should be evaluated promptly. Dr. Sappington is trained and ready to help you with emergency eye care needs with prompt appointments and care.
At ESPY Vision, we are able to treat common infections, as well as inflammation caused by dry eyes, allergies or systemic conditions. If needed, she works with several local specialists to give her patients the appropriate care and follow up for their individual circumstances.

Sports Vision
Sports vision training helps athletes determine how well their eyes perform. These tests go beyond standard eye tests that only evaluate the ability to see objects clearly on a standard eye chart. This training can be beneficial for assessing athletic abilities associated with hand-eye coordination, eye tracking, depth perception and peripheral awareness.
Once it’s confirmed the athlete is playing with the best vision possible, Dr. Sappington will work with each individual to train the visual system for optimal performance. She will also work with patients to find the appropriate sports eyewear to help protect athletes from sports related injuries or improve their contrast during competition.

Medical Eye Exams
Glaucoma is a silent disease that does not show symptoms until late stages have developed with the permanent loss of peripheral vision.
Do you take the medication Plaquenil (Hydroxychloroquine)? This medication can have ocular side effects and requires a dilated eye exam to monitor appropriately.
